Philippine Passport - My First

I'm proud to say that I'm a few days away from being a full pledged Filipino citizen.

Ako po ay kumuha na ng PASAPORTE!

I hope this will help those people who are planning to get their own.

Before getting one, you should have the ff:

- 2 Valid IDs (Government Issued)
- Birth Certificate
- 3 passport photos

The Department of Foreign Affairs is located along Roxas Blvd. You may park in front of DFA but you will have to walk a few meters away to go to the first step. The processing of the passport is done at the back of the DFA office - DFA basketball court.

First thing you need to remember is not to entertain fixers. Remember what your Mom use to say..."don't talk to strangers". They can smell you a mile away. Go straight to the DFA's basketball court(at the back of the office).

The first step is to fill up the application form and attach 3 photos on it. The application form is given by the guard when you enter the basketball court. If you don't have your passport size pictures yet, there's a mobile photo studio inside and it costs Php150. After filling up the form, fall in line and have your records verified.

Second, go inside the DFA office for the evaluation and processing. You'll need to have your requirements/documents ready. Make sure to photocopy your valid ids before falling in line to avoid delay.

Third and last, go to the Auditorium for the payment, encoding, and finger printing. After finger printing, you just have to wait a week or two for your passport. Expedited(1week) processing costs Php750 while the normal(2weeks) process costs Php500.

The process is simple, you just have to endure the crowd especially when lining up. One more thing, be sure to clear your schedule for the whole day. I'm sure you'll need it. =)

Russian Roulette

A Russian went on a safari to Africa and was caught by a fierce-looking tribe. Upon learning that he was from Russia, the chief decided not to cook him alive but to give him their version of Russian roulette.

Sixteen girls then circled the guy and one by one proceeded to give him a blowjob.

"Hey, this is great!", the Russian shouted in delight. "But, where's the roulette?"

"One of the girls is a cannibal."

The Art of Fliering

February 17, 2009 is the day I first tried the art of giving away fliers. I'm sure that all of us have encountered sales people giving away fliers. I use to elude people like them. I sometimes even pity them for the job they have. Now, I'm on the other side of the fence. Now, I am one of them.

I admit that I didn't like it. I was standing there beside our booth praying that nobody recognizes me. It was SM Megamall for goodness sake! Do you know how many people go to Megamall every day?

I saw different reactions that day. Some were kind, some would smile, some would just wave their hands, some would just look straight as if you were not there, and some would look disgusted. I really hate rude people. Couldn't they just say "no, thanks" instead of making their eye brows meet? Who do they think they are? Sometimes people tend to act like they are better than the rest. It's ok to think that you are better than the every one else - confidence is essential, just don't act like one.

Believe it or not, some of these people actually earn big. Some even earn 6 digits a month. Don't be fooled by their appearance. They might have a "beemer" parked outside.

Sometimes, we encounter walls in our lives. This is one of those walls. It's not there to stop me though. It's there to stop others from catching up with me to the finish line. I don't care if people laugh at me now...as long as I get to laugh last. If this is what it takes to get to my goal, I'll do it.

Getting My First NBI Clearance

It was my first time getting an NBI clearance. I started out the day late. I left my house at around 11AM in the morning(I stayed up late coz I was making this blog - my first - the previous night.). I tried the Municipal Hall of Pasig, unfortunately, they don't have a NBI satellite office anymore. Ayon sa Mamang traffic enforcer, "sa Quiapo na sir!". The first thing that went into my mind is...wtf! Why is the government making it hard for us tax payers to get important documents like this?! I got home quickly, went online and googled the steps on how to get a clearance. As soon as I got the address, I went off.

Carriedo Plaza Building
Carriedo St. cor Estero Cegado and Sales St.
Quiapo, Manila
Tel. no. 734-4907, 734-2922

To get to Carriedo, I took an fx going to Quiapo. In Echague(this is the fx's last stop), I took the underpass and you should be able to see a sign pointing you to Carriedo. I got to the NBI clearance office at 2:30pm. If you're planning to go there to get a clearance, I suggest make it earlier. Prepare at least 150pesos for your trip. Make sure to bring a black pen too. I left at around 3:30pm. I spent an hour - not bad considering the crowd at that time. I wasn't able to get the clearance yet because it was set to be released on the 18th.

Have you noticed that most, if not all, government employees look miserable? (Bato bato sa langit, tamaan wag magalit!) Parang biyernes santo ang mukha - sign of how much they really really love their work. My opinion - most of them skipped the customer service training when they got hired. Anyway, I was met by a rude employee on the 6th step of the process. I wasn't able to get the name because they don't have name tags on - which I think they should. As soon as he stamped my receipt, I asked "Sir dun na ba sunod?(pointing to the 7th and last step line). He opened his lips, didn't hear a word he said. I asked again, "Sir dun ba?" This time I heard it, he said, "sa 18". Wondering what he meant by that, I asked again, "Sir dun?" As soon as I uttered these words, he looked at me for the first time, voice raised, he said "Sir, basahin mo kasi yang nilagay ko eh!" Can you imagine the attitude? I was asking nicely. Besides, we pay for their salaries. They should treat their customers with the utmost respect. Is this the way they treat "slow" customers like me? By the way, the stamp reads "Feb 18 2009" in small font.

My advise is, before you enter a government office, psych yourself. Breath deep, exhale, and release the negative energy in your body. You'll need all the patience you can get. Don't stoop to a lower level. You are the fortunate one. Lastly, be thankful - be thankful that you're not on their side of the fence.
